Drug prevention and education are found all throughout the state of Arizona, and like many other states, there are federal programs, state services, and non-profit organizations. The prevention agencies and coalitions in Arizona promote and implement prevention and early intervention strategies to reduce the impact of addiction. The prevention programs are related to problems with children, adolescents, and young adults, and help ensure the well-being of all the citizens. There are a variety of prevention interventions operating through the communities offering comprehensive solutions. The community coalitions in the state are used as a vehicle to foster improvements in community health.

A coalition is a group of individuals representing diverse organizations, factions, or constituencies who agree to work together. Communities in Arizona are free to choose the type of prevention program they would like to implement. For example, the Northern Arizona Regional Behavioral Health Authority offers a substance abuse prevention program. They provide substance abuse prevention efforts in Northern Arizona and work to meet the needs of local and regional communities. This organization funds six community-based prevention providers that collaborate with community coalitions. Much has been done within the state to help prevent drug abuse, and help youth and adults find the treatment resources they need.
