Drug & Alcohol Residential Treatments, Are They All the Same?
If residential treatment programs use similar models to treat then the steps will almost be identical. But generally every facility has their own way of treatment and work on different modalities keeping in mind the requirements.
Most of the 30 day plans are designed with a 12-step process and hence are alike in most of the facilities. First three steps from all the 12 steps are finished in 30 days and then the rest are finished by meeting within the time period of 90 days post discharge.
Most of the Biophysical programs are alike in most of the facilities, but are very different from the 12 step based facilities.
Medical model programs work on the similar lines as that of a 12-step process and both have a lot of similarities. The only difference between the two programs is the medications they use in the treatment process.
Therapeutic communities are the most different programs from all the above mentioned programs. This is because they generally tend to be of duration ranging between 12 months and 24 months and the treatment is also very unique.
