How Do You Support a Loved One During Drug Rehab?
The best thing any family member can do when a loved one is in drug rehab treatment is to be a good listener. Sometimes the addict while undergoing drug rehab will encounter difficult times and may become emotional. A recovering addict will at times turn to a family member or friend for some advice and suggestions on how to deal with certain aspects of their recovery. The most important thing you can do at that time is to listen to what the person has to communicate and let them know that you fully understand. You should then refer them back to their individual counselor at the facility where they're doing the treatment for guidance. Any personal advice from you may hinder their addiction treatment program already underway.
