Cocaine Anonymous is a twelve-step program and is there for recovering addicts who were or are struggling with cocaine addiction. Cocaine anonymous is there for cocaine addicts to be able to identify specifically with other cocaine addicts. Cocaine anonymous utilizes the alcoholic's anonymous book and twelve-step traditions. Twelve-step programs do work, but it does take a certain level of commitment, and the addict must believe they are an addict forever, and there is nothing they can do about that.

Cocaine anonymous uses the disease model of addiction treatment and looks at addiction as a life-long disease. There are numerous benefits with cocaine anonymous, and primarily it is the group support the on-going connections with others who have gone through similar problems in their lives. Many people maintain their sobriety by applying the twelve-steps, and the principals involved with the twelve-step program. The effectiveness of these programs will also depend on the willingness of the person wanting to change and become sober. Cocaine anonymous can work and is effective, but of course, there are many who struggle with it, and this will simply mean they will need some other type of treatment. Cocaine anonymous is a very traditional form of drug rehabilitation, and some addicts may require a non-traditional approach with drug rehabilitation.
