The National Survey on Drug Use and Health indicates that one out of every ten Americans is struggling with drug addiction. Drug and alcohol addiction impacts so many different people across the country. Anyone struggling with addiction should ensure the program they go to is the right fit. Outpatient drug rehab centers do work, but it is not always easy. Outpatient treatment centers provide more flexibility, which allows patients to continue working and maintain other obligations in his or her life. These types of programs work for those who are not severely dependent on drugs. This means they do not require the same heightened level of care as with someone in a residential program.

Outpatient drug treatment also works well for those who do not require medical detox. Outpatient centers cannot provide 24-hour care or supervision for the client. It is also not uncommon for outpatient centers to be used as a transition point for inpatient treatment. The effectiveness of any outpatient center depends upon the ability of the patient keeping their set schedule. The client is required to attend daily, or whichever days are set each week. Outpatient services also provide a wide variety of different settings. There are often more locations for outpatient treatment, which makes it more accessible for addicts to access.
